Thankful and Grateful-This week has been a busy one with Thanksgiving creeping up so quickly. After that, I started looking at my grocery list. Also confirmed what everyone is bringing. In the mean, while I added some Thanksgiving touches and finalized my table décor. The more quickly work get done ahead of time the more I can enjoy the day.
When I was young I received a chocolate advent calendar and thought it was so fun and having a little piece of chocolate every day was a bonus. I happened to see some advent calendars one year at Trader Joe’s, and it brought back fond memories so I bought one for my boys. Even though they were older they got a kick out of it and it has become a fun tradition. I always end up buying extra for their friends because they all turn into little boys this time of year! This year I bought them a little early and will have one each for them, their girlfriends, and my niece as a little Thanksgiving favor.
I used to decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving, but the last few years I have been getting a jump start by doing the bulk of it the weekend before so that I can watch football, Christmas movies, online shop, and eat leftovers and it has worked out really well! I basically just have the mantel and a few other vignettes to finish the weekend after. This is what I will be facing this weekend.
Speaking of the mantel… I do a little touch of Thanksgiving with a turkey theme on my mantel. I leave out some of my fall décor but add in a little bit of Thanksgiving. My turkey collection has grown over the last few years and just love placing them all together front and center. I just tuck in a fall leaf garland, pumpkins, pinecones, and candles- super simple to create!
I always have a small tree near my front door. So I put it out early, add some fall leaves, a couple falls picks, and the “gobble till you wobble” sign and BOOM. We have a Thanksgiving tree!
I hope you will finis planning on time so that you can enjoy your day with family and friends.gratefulthankfulThankful and Grateful
